Workshop Student Commitments

All students planning to attend a class with Joshua the Jeweler must carefully read and agree to abide by the following commitments. 

  • Clean up- I will clean up after myself and put back tools and materials at the end of my class

  • Respect others - I will respect others and keep my behaviour and language kind and family friendly

  • Ask permission - I will ask permission before using any tools, materials, or opening any drawer or cabinet.

  • Follow instructions - I will carefully listen to and abide by all instructions given.

  • Take your time - I will be patient and careful, being aware of my surroundings and potential dangers.​

Safety Warning

I will do my best to ensure the shop is as safe as possible, however, metalsmithing is inherently dangerous and could result in serious injury.* Also to maintain a safe environment, students may be removed from a class for dangerous behavior.** By submitting this form you agree that you understand and accept these risks.

* Hazards in the shop may include but are not limited to strong acids, flammables, open flames, pinch hazards, heavy objects, sharp objects, abrasives, fumes, laser radiation, rotary power tools, and impact hazards. Minor injuries are common including burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and allergic reactions. In extremely rare circumstances serious injury which could lead to long term harm or even death is possible.

** Dangerous behavior includes anything that could cause physical harm or significant property damage, as well as the verbal expression of intent to cause such harm even if it is not immediately acted upon. A single warning will be given, but if behavior continues the student will be removed. No refunds can be provided in this case.

Cancellation Policy

If you book a class and find you are unable to keep your booking please contact me as soon as possible.

  • Rescheduling: You may reschedule your class at any time prior to the class time. 

  • Cancellation: If you wish to cancel your booking and it is more than 24 hours prior to 10 am on the class date you may receive a full refund.

  • Missing class: If you miss your scheduled class time without notifying me prior to the class I cannot guarantee a refund or rescheduling but please contact me so I can handle this on a case by case basis.

In the event that I must cancel a class, I will notify all students as soon as possible by phone and email. In such cases all students will be entitled to a full refund or may reschedule.

By submitting this form I acknowledge that I have read and agree to abide by these commitments and I understand this is a release of liability.

If participant is under 18 years of age: I am the parent or legal guardian of the above applicant, have read the Student Commitments, and will be legally responsible for the obligations and acts of the applicant as described in this form, and agree, for myself and for the applicant, to be bound by its terms.
